Junior Data Scientist – Spatial Planning

You will be responsible for processing spatial planning data (e.g., state development plans, regional plans, land-use plans, and zoning plans). From automated update detection and strategies for vectorizing planning maps to processing them in code—as part of the data team, you will be involved in the entire process. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the monitoring of spatial and urban development plans (LEPs, RROPs, FNPs, BPs) and automating this monitoring process
• Researching innovative ways to vectorize raster-based (image-based) maps
• Diligent processing of geospatial data using Python
• Reviewing code from your colleagues on the data team

• Advanced or completed degree in spatial planning or geoinformatics – we also welcome applications from working students
• Knowledge of the spatial planning process
• Strong skills in geospatial data processing with Python, e.g., geopandas
• Experience with git or another version control system
• Experience with GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS
• Interest in and understanding of the energy industry
• Fluent in German and English
• Meticulous work style and a passion for clean code
• Strong communication skills and a desire to work in a team
