Solar parks are not eligible for subsidies under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) if they are built on drained moorland without permanent rewetting. The term ‘moorland’ is not defined in the EEG itself. Instead, it is based on regional frameworks established by the federal states, which are based on the GAEC II standards (basic requirements for agricultural land use under the Common Agricultural Policy).
